Snakes? There Not As Scary As You Think.

Snakes, as pets, are not very common. It can be dangerous to have a snake as a Pet but this also depends on the type of snake. Some snakes are more suitable as Pets than others. Some snakes are bred in captivity; though most snakes are from the wild. The life span of a well bred snake is usually around fifteen or twenty years. Some snakes can grow very big and become extremely dangerous during these years.

It is best to have a snake bred in captivity as a pet. Venomous snakes are bad pet choices as they could be of risk to the owner and others living nearby too. Corn snakes, king snakes, or ball pythons are the best choice for pet snakes. They tend to be gentle and docile. And providing the proper care, food and shelter are the needs of these snakes. All three of the above snakes represents a commitment of long term care, with life spans of 10 years for the Corn Snakes, 20 years for the King Snakes and maybe up to 40 or more years for a Ball Python.

Regular cleaning of its cage as well as regular feeding is required for proper grooming of a snake. If not given proper attention these pets will not survive long. Snakes can be great pets; it is all about choosing the right one as well as taking good care of them. This means that the owner should be familiar with feeding, behavior, habits, as well as the commitments required to keep a snake as a pet.
