Birds - They don’t need a lot of space

Of all the usual Pets Birds are the smallest and easiest-to-maintain. They don’t need a lot of space to live in and aren’t really troublesome. Even though you do need to devote a lot of time and attention to birds, it’s not as much as in the case of other pets. Birds come in an amazingly huge number of different species and colours. The life span of a bird can range from 15 years to over 70 years for larger species.

Birds bred in captivity are usually the ones chosen as pets. You wouldn’t want to get yourself a bird from the wilderness; because it would feel insecure and unhappy in your cage. Parakeets, cockatiels and canaries are some birds that are bred in captivity while species like finches and parrots are normally caught from the wild. When getting yourself a bird, make sure it is one that suits your lifestyle. If you want a bird that will sing, canaries are a good choice but I believe they are not fond of companionship and thus do not bond closely. Get yourself a parakeet if you want a closer friend that will talk too!

All birds are best given a pellet diet; maybe occasionally vegetables, or fruits. But then, each bird has a different food requirement and so you will have to do an extended research on your bird beforehand. Like with all pets, be ready to give the proper care, food, attention and shelter your bird needs. The physical size of the bird doesn’t matter, what matters is the size of the relationship!
